Abnormal Assay(s)
Assay: Overt movement/posture

   Domain(s): Visible Mutants ; Auditory/Vestibular
Phenotype Description
The visible phenotype appears by weaning age (average age of onset 6 +/-1.1 weeks; n=18) as variable and generally subtle head-nodding. Mutants of either gender have been produced. Homozygotes are viable and a colony could be maintained through homozygote or heterozygote matings.   (View video)
Pathology Report
Standard pathology work-up on two mutants (185 or 245 days of age) showed no abnormalities. Serial sections of the ears of one mouse (108 days of age) showed otoliths and semicircular canals were present; christae ampularis were normal.

Comments
Please note: The majority of frozen NMF embryos is obtained through matings between homozygous (or heterozygous) mutant males and wild-type females; if recovery of mutants is requested, the mice will be shipped as soon as possible following wean without further phenotype or genotype testing. NMF embryos are supplied subject to the General Terms and Conditions of Sale posted at www.jaxmice.jax.org. For prices or further information, please inquire at srp@jax.org or nmf-mice@jax.org. (20) NMF9 or DNA have been requested and distributed to 3 investigators.
